Up & About

Hola!

After much speculation and delay, the much awaited dynamic22 meet, ECDSYS, finally took place last week-end in Cologne! It was hosted by Ballu, Mandy and attended by Dagadu, and Kidu. Many of the topics that were pending for review were forged to conclusions, doubts were cleansed with perspectives, and new ideas were stormed out from the brains to the desks! The Friday evening started with a quick look at the past year’s stats and future directives. Later on Saturday morning, the agenda was discussed in depth. Some of the most important points are put up here for the readers:

1. Why Bloggin’?d22-1

Answering one of the questions, I explained that blogging is now not limited to something just personal, but increasingly getting used as a “tool” for political, social and economic commentary. That means, in the public domain, blogs are providing a means for specialized and personalized information as well as awareness. We also have a larger platform at our disposal for our views to be judged and more so, to widen them. Keeping blogging will also be useful for the Team@dynamic22, for recognition, if in future we think of going beyond as an organization.

2. Policy matters!

There has been in the past questions raised about the policy to put an article each (working) day. This time it was directed on the quality, that is if the compulsion would mean a closed eye on quality. Dagadu managed to answer it neatly, and he explained that the team has been comfortable to compose 4 articles for the past year (with the exclusion of TOI’s Speaking Tree), then going for 5 would not be that hard. And in case, we manage to get a couple of more helping hands, it would all be even simpler. Since @dynamic22, we value change, the variety of authors means variety of subjects, perspectives and styles, too!

3. Art of Bloggin’!

Ballu raised a very interesting question about the art and form of blogging@dynamic22. According to him, since our topics are mainly about social changes, political drama, financial games, etc., the language of the articles must be sober and simplified. It should also be kept in mind, that the reader should not feel discomforted by terms/phrases that are difficult to grasp. Also, the length of the blogs must strictly be maintained at 450-500 words and in case, they extend, then it must be put up in parts, as a series. Team@dynamic22 seemed to have taken due note of Ballu’s suggestion and mentioned that it would be put to effect very soon.

4. Revenue generation?

The revenue generation through blogging has been discussed much earlier. Team@dynamic22 will soon introduce its revenue generation model, but the purpose of it would be “strictly” as an aid for underprivileged, financially needy, and uneducated people located in India. Considering the legal aspects, it has also been finalized that only banner advertisements will be allowed, and the cause will be mentioned in disclaimer or policy sections. To that end, Kidu has shown interest to code for the promotional banners and placement of it on the webpage.

5. Quality control?

A nice idea raised by Mandy was about quality considering the policy matter. The question was, if the author feels the quality of the article is below standard, should he or should he not decide for publication. The question was vividly answered by Dagadu as he said that we leave the quality to be judged by the readers. Since there is already a rating system installed on the website, it is now even simpler to improve the standards based on it. Once again, the experimentation has never been discouraged @dynamic22 and one can freely choose the art and form he wishes for his article.

6. Extending the community?

Finally, Dagadu presented a few ideas on how to extend the community. He wishes to call for contribution freely from amongst the close friend circle, family members, and readers themselves. For that, as an Editor he would write messages inviting guest posts on dynamic22. The invitation would also be made visible on the policy page.

So, this was the excerpt! It was indeed a satisfying experience to join friends who have shown affection to dynamic22, helped it let grow, and wished it best of luck. The changes that have been mentioned here will be reverted very soon, so with that, Team@dynamic22 expresses a heartfelt thanks to dear Ballu, Mandy, Dagadu, and Kidu. Thank you!

p.s.: The Mutton Biryani was awesome!
