Plz Allow IPL-3 : Says Pawar

What makes S. Pawar the power man in Indian politics is his shrewd acumen and sheer macht to twist his way to suit any political equation. On a recent incident this man has sent jitters back into Congress camp.  Baba G (read Prince Congress) recently toured Mumbai to outwit Sena, is getting all popular in youths.  His growth within the Congress is lately worrying  a few seniors who been toiling the Congress to reach the top. Alas they forget that they do not carry the magical royal  ‘Gandhi’ namesake thingie. With most  politicians in Congress cannot say ‘My Name is Gandhi’  but sure are throwing in weight behind ‘The Khan’  for some political mileage.

The already Ailing tiger trying  to push hard his baby cat on fore front of Maha politics is not helping. Baba G has outwitted Shiv Sena this time. Baba G moved carefully  through the city so that nothing harmed  his skin, while the CM himself was alert and vigil to take care of Baba G. Its different thing that CM MUST be alert for the State of Maharashtra as his lawful duty, but one needs to understand, one mistake and madam G shall kick him out. That power does not lie with citizens of Maharashtra so ‘they’ can be ignored. Anyway Baba G came, gave a blow in face of Shiv Sena and  moved ahead.  CM Ashok Chavan scored  1 point in Madam G’s good book.

What  awaited next was  SRK ‘s Marketing  game involving politics this time. Sure we all see the benefits the movie is reaping, denting a serious blow to Shiv Sena.  Here too the CM ventured in and said we shall protect the movie. He did protect the movie but totaly  turned a deaf ear to warnings about possible attack in  Pune.  But of course civilians here were not as important as protecting movie so its OK to neglect security issues overs some movie.

Well now all this CM standing against Shiv Sena may seem nothing to do with  S. Pawar, but well it actually as a lot do. The price rise is already out of  reach of the Agri minister. Within the coalitions (as it functions) as one member gets weak other are already out with their fangs to finish him off. But here they tried to finish some one whose through n thorough with politics. The rise in price or to say its impact on  inflation  was attempted to be blamed on S Pawar.  Now he being in the office it becomes his duty to accept the failure in controlling the rates of commodities  in time or arranging imports rather blaming some other politician for sugar price rise. But yet he felt he is being singled out.

To me the question remains, when we have Montek Singh,  P Chidambaram, and the PM Manmohan Singh  — the best of India’s Finance Men, how can they merely blame a Minister solely. Being cornered out, S Pawar immediatly jumped to his groove. His Timing was perfect — Baba G visit to Mumbai on back drop of congress assurace to the state that Shiv Sena dosen’t control anything. In this desperation was the CM, while the master politician S Pawar met Bal Thackray and made this request “Please let the IPL-3 run smooth“.

This meet changed all the  equations. Made all sleepy partners of Coalition  waken by some jolt. It directly shows that running anything smooth, cannot be done without Shiv-Sena Ashirwaad. The request exposed the CM as spineless and  his existence did not matter all. Another strong message that got sent to Delhi was, incase you still wish to blame me I’ll join hands with  Shiv Sena and topple the  government, not only at state but at center too. A seemingly simple  plead lead to damage control in the coalition. Madam G got alerted and decided not more Pawar bashing. After all ‘power’  is important.  Also cannot risk her sons future, as already there are members within cognress unhappy seeing he meteoric rise of Baba G, who will easily side with S Pawar  for sake of again ‘Power’.  All -in- all  Allow IPL- 3 was not that simple message after all.

Well written about “SHREWD POWE(A)R”….in the past he has shown his backstabbing and penetrating power…
A double edge sword politicans, never know which way he will turn up…

Nice way to touch all the points! But I guess they are n’t that connected as we all are compelled to perceive.

Where Rahul is just boy-toy in the Indian political drama, playing his regular gimmicks to lure the crowd, Sharad Pawar was much obsessed with BCCI’s profit margin in IPL-3. And where Pune blast has much to do with David Headly, “My Name Is Khan” is pure-play ego clash.

And about country’s economic prospect, Prof. Bhagawati once said that the fact that India had world’s best economists is the saddest thing happened to it.

  • @ Mandy : True as its hardly can anyone predict a politician, none know who’s he to befriend

@Amol: Well I wont undermine Rahul and his deeds, cos he to soon be your PM. While MNIK was a comment to show where CM Chavan is busy as , rather where he shuld have been. His strife with Shiv Sena and Pawar sidelining him all play imp role. It sheer Timing from Pawar that mattered here.

@ dagadu …But..if you check especially sharad pawars history in politics. Its full of erratic path, from toppling to revolting in 70s, then back to home and in power..with suppressing of established politician in 80s…to breaking away in 90s to powersharing and goin corporate..in 2000.

I admire him still he holds ground in Indian politics with 15-20 MPs…

If what Mandy has said is not sarcastic, I would say that Sharad Pawar’s staying in power, is an utter shame to democracy-loving Indian populace.

For just one, that Sharad’s acumen and games have proven that democracy isn’t a perfect system to govern. He has time and again found flaws and exploited for his own mileage. Not to mention, he has abused powers and is responsible for the current state-of-affairs in Maharashtra.

Yet, I find people who venerate him for being a Maharashtrian and a ingenious politician (so much to write his biography)!

Excellent Article Editor. Thanks for decoding that ‘secret’ message. Fantastically analyzed and to do the point. Liked it a lots !! Here is my take on the issue -

    :D

  • @Amol: I wouldn’t venerate Pawar, yet agree that he has abused power but also has benefited the state. Its like he turns out to be relatively better politician. He does fill his pocket but sheds a lil to state too unlike other politicians. I would prefer he working 100% for ppl but that would be just a dream. Also i wont solely hold him responsible current state of Maharashtra. WE need more holistic approach.

@ Jagdish: I appreciate your comment. It means a lot to me Thanx.

Very good summation of Pawar(Power) act. I am not very politically inclined person and over Pawer matter your article made me aware of many things. Well, keep writing such fantastic analysis :)

@Dagadu: “turns out to be relatively better politician”

That is exactly the superflous flaw in democracy and which is why I never go to vote.

The likes of Sharad have maligned politics to an extent, where a common man is forced to vote for a “relatively” uncorrupt politician and not a clean one. Of course, I accept the argument that nobody is clean, but so is the sorry state.

And in case, I would never rate his good deeds over his bad deeds. This will be mistake, because Indians are obsessed with revering faulty leaders, just because they did a few “good” things. Politics must be unforgivable place, you err, you loose!

  • @Amol Leider that’s the Fact. Not voting just add to it. I know there are none clean ones but we have to push the bad ones out. Maybe for that we do need to elect the relative better ones. (This does not mean S Pawar also take my notes not as in his support) WE may claim and blame a lot but we need to be part of that system to change it. Just cant keep away until all is clean( that happens never). perhaps you may agree that we cannot throw the whole rotten basket out and wait until the new (possibly good) ones to arrive n take over.

‘Politics must be unforgivable’ sounds good in books but making this ideal to realize we need to pass through a few S Pawars.
