2011...The year so far

Ever thought what is that one thing you wake up hoping on the first day of New Year. Well, technically not many of us are in a state to ‘Hope’ with our inebriated mind and hung-over body on that particular day. I guess waking up with a ‘Hope,’ that you can, sounds good idea to begin New Year.  Jokes apart, I am sure most of us, ‘good samaritans,’ hope that at least this year be different from last year. For me, the start of this year was not different from the previous, reflected by the fact that it started with January…again!!!

But here is the best part of January…Its like a first bite of your favorite Pizza…, always gives you that ‘umm…umm…good’ feeling. I know we are barely through the tenth week after new year, but it has already been eventful so far. I made a resolution this year that I won’t talk/write about ME in my blogs. But it took me my entire life time to build upon a reputation of being a ‘resolution breaker,’ and guess what…its easier to keep up with reputation than resolution. So it’s a little ‘ME’ time to begin with.

Like every year, I made it a point not to see first sunshine of the new year, happy to keep up with my old tradition which critics like to call ‘laziness.’ The new year has so far brought me new classes filled with relentless naps, lot of homework, worries about finding employment, and a supervisor…all in chronological order.  Ohh!!! Talk about surprises…my technical research paper is approved for publication this year at the Society of Automotive Engineers International. The feeling is similar to that of Tusshar Kapoor’s, when he was told that he barely tops a 5^th grader on “Kya aap Paachavi paas se tej hai!!!” My professor wants me to write a second paper now. Dammit!!! I guess, he is keeping up with his tradition of  giving  a ‘good’ news followed by a ‘Bad’ news to make my life ‘Ugly’!

Moving on from my personal state of affairs to affairs of ‘state,’ I am living in – Michigan.  No surprises there!!! People are not getting any ‘calls’ for interviews. Hardcore optimists like me blame it on ‘poor’ telephone networks. But those pessimists called economists believe that it is the ‘poor’ economy. Even yesterday, whether reports said – ‘temperature is dropping just like Michigan economy.’  Well , what can I say ?? Even weather is going through economic crisis.

News on national front sound great so far. Republic day went ahead without any hiccups. I must praise security forces for that.  Amidst all IPL – ‘Indians Hate Pakistanis’ hoopla, we showed our neighbors that ‘We Care.’  Wonder how??? By using ex-Pakistani Air Force chief’s image in ‘National Girl Child Day’ advertisement.  Again, optimist in me believes that its our way of giving some love to our neighbors. But those pessimists called reporters name it as a ‘blunder.’ What a shame?? Rumor has it that the general looked beautiful than some of the models on the poster.

Talk about rumor…there is one more cheesy piece of gossip. Last month, some of our dynamic22 members had gone to India on “vacation”. Reports say that behind this facade, they were on a secret mission called ‘Operation Bride Hunt.’ I am little confused here – shall I take their names or wait for their comments???
