Immortal IDEAS

Sometimes looking forward at innovations and inventions admiring the today genius; we have forgotten what our past has given. Myself never thought there will any born with geniuses that to match of Einstein and Newton. Something must be there that would be always that made them think and realize. Greatest invention always came which were thought absurd and impractical. But did we think about those “men” whose minds gave birth to these “ideas” and remain immortal as “MYTHS” for generation to come. For me creators of myth and mythological stories are no less than the today brilliant men whose creation still alive for thousands of years.

Myths deal with basic questions about the imagination, world and human experience, and because of their nature. Every myth shows peculiar characteristics of that culture and region. People used their imagination and began drawing out what these gods would look like. These pictures later turned into idols and sculptures that we worship today. Myth show in past our ancestor dreamt what we did not think about it.

Mythology to my understanding can be classified as saga: stories of clan with plots and sub plot; stories generated and revolving around an event and folklore which passed by mouth. Mythology later began developing morals. There were stories of mortals who committed wrongs and the gods would come down from the heavens and teach them their mistakes. Children and even adults use to read these myths and hopefully use them to learn from this fictional character’s mistake.

Indian mythology is one of the significant elements of Indian culture, enriching it further and makes it unique in the world. Through generations, different stories in Indian Mythology have been passed from generation to generation either by word of mouth or through carefully produced scriptures. These stories, which form the backbone of Indian mythology, are a medium for people especially parents to inculcate interest in Indian culture in younger children and to impart values of Indian culture to them. The interesting aspect of the stories in Indian Mythology is that they are usually meant to convey subtle facts, rules and maxims to guide our daily lives. Story-telling is the best medium for conveying powerful messages. The stories in Indian mythology vary from subtle maxim conveying tales of Panchatantra and Jataka- tales to subtle life defining stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. A key point to note is that there are usually multiple stories explaining the same fact or occasion or festival so, each version can be right in its own merit. This is a result of the natural evolution the stories might have gone in process of being handed over from generation to generation over time.

Even though we know myths are false, we still believe in them. We keep on telling the stories to children for generations and keep them a part of our culture, even though they are fictional. No matter how exaggerated these stories may sound, we don’t question them. We accept them and move on.

But somewhere I think  our acceptance to these has stopped the generation of new ideas (MYTH) for coming GENERATIONS.

    You are right, Mandy…!

Basically, it all (myths, innovations, stories) can be summarized as theories. And science attempts to prove them partly…the process is very very slow, because it goes through self-realization…
